Crowned Crane

The Crowned crane is the national bird of Uganda.

Both the male and female sport golden crowns. We spotted this one wading through the Rapunzel-spun grass with its family. They are very effective tree ornaments!

Since the French for crane is grue, it might make you (OK, only me) think of golden steel cut oats porridge, but only if you’re thinking of the word gruau, and it is also breakfast time.

Aw, babies!

See it dance! Well, you can google that. The videos take forever to download and you cannot embed them in any case.  I have seen more graceful dances, but not by me.
